Hi sweeteater, welcome to 3FC
We live in Tennessee, so we can relate to the sugar addiction Southerners are born with! It can be hard to get control of, but it's not impossible. Do you keep a food log? If not, get a blank notebook and start writing down everything you eat, including every bite of sweet you can't resist. Seeing it in print can really help put it into perspective. Clean out the pantry. If it isn't there, you can't eat it
Buy sweets that will fit in with your diet. If your diet plan allows sugar free pudding, ice cream, or other sugar free treats, then buy some to keep on hand. Keep Splenda on hand, instead of sugar. I only buy sugar when I bake for family holiday meals. I don't mind carbs, but sugar is devoid of any nutrition and a waste of calories. Weight Watchers offers a very good plan that allows sweets every day, within reason. If portion control is your problem, then only buy very small quantities at a time. Take it one day at a time. Make it your goal to just get through today without overeating the sweets. Just one day. The next day will be easier
Hopefully someone will come along that can help you with this more
