Question where do I fit in?

hi, just joined today. So many boards. I would like to try one, but I don't know where I fit in.

I am 37. A divorced mom of 4 kids and I stay home with them. I have no family support near me except my 16 yr old is a blessing and does what she can, the younger kids are hard to handle.

I rarely leave the house due to depression and the kids just act terrible fighting or falling out having tantrums.

I need to lose about 75 lbs. I have not been near my goal weight since 1997 and my youngest child is now 2, so no excuses. I have actually gained since her birth in 11/02.

I live in Florida and other than the mosquitos, have no reason to NOT be out and about being active. I need motivation, support and friends. I am lonely, so I stay home and eat whatever the kids don't. I barely exercise. I am really out of shape. I have been considering weight loss drugs but I don't have any insurance.

Any suggestions for support groups to join?

Well I first wanted to congratulate you on taking the first step and joining here. This is a great support system. I wanted to recommend a few groups to you. ONe is under the "support groups forum" and it is called "The Race to 199" and it is a group of ladies who share the same goal as you... getting under 200.

Another place you should check out is the weight loss and depression forum and the "Jaded Ladies". All of these places would be great for you!

Welcome aboard!

I just surf about the boards, posting where the mood takes me. I can vouch for the ladies and gentleman in the 100lb club, we are a friendly bunch, and you don't HAVE to be facing that big a weight loss, we welcome anyone.

I also pop into maintainers, they are friendly as well, and sometimes it helps to find out what you need to do to sustain a large weight loss from those who are walking the walk.

And if you see a post from someone you feel you can connect with, you can private message them, and who knows, you may have made a lifelong friend

Under the support groups, there is a daily thread for moms losing weight. I'm new to this site as well, and they are a very nice group of people.
