Realist Looking to Buddy Up

Well, I'm at it again. I lost 30lbs about 2yrs ago, gained it back and then some. :sumo: Stinkin junk food/stress eating. :nono: And no, I didn't do any fad diets or anything of the sort. I simply exercised and ate like I had some sense. LOL. I'm looking for someone to buddy up with. I have approx 40lbs to drop and my main concerns are losing fat and building muscle. :strong: My plan is to build nice definition by weight training coupled with aerobics so that I can see the muscle and not leave it hidden underneath the layers of fat. :dizzy: . If you are interested, drop me a line so that we can encourage each other. :cb:

Hello Ms Sassi, and welcome to 3FC! Hope you find a lot of support here.
I agree with your realistic approach to weight loss, and I love the “I ate like I had some sense”-plan! :D
It’s like that for me too – it comes down to eating less and healthier food, keeping a food journal, teaching my self how to manage stress, and lifting weights.
Check out the “Ladies who lift forum” to find others who lift weights, btw.

Weight maintenance really is hard, isn’t it? I have lost 60lbs, but slowly: I lose weight in stages, and then try to learn how to maintain the weight loss for long periods of time. So far I’ve found that learning new and better skills for managing stress is essential for maintaining my weight loss – gaining weight because of stress eating is something I’ve done plenty of times too.

But at least you already know a lot about how you should lose weight – since you’ve already succeeded at that.
You could also check out the “Maintenance forum” where there’s a great discussion about “Thin for Life” right now – they have great discussions there.

Wish you the best of luck – hope to see you around a lot!

Hello Ms. Sassi! I am also trying to lose about 30 pounds. I use to teach weight lifting when I was much younger and still love it. I am waiting for the gym I joined to open (it is under construction) so I can begin lifting again. I would love to have some one to talk to about working out and I might be able to give you advice on occassion. I have tried all the fad diets and am done with them. I recently got rid of my scale and am trying to listen to my body and eat healthy food. It is very hard but I think I will succeed. It would be nice to talk about exercise instead of food for a change.
