I found this site today while searching for info on diet supplements. I am so desperate to lose weight i will do almost anything (except surgery). I wanted to know if anyone has had any success with using diet supplements (leptoprin/anorez, relacore. cortadrine) etc. I can't use anything with too much stimulants. but I need something. It depresses me severely that I can't conquer this area of my life. I hate food. I hate thinking about it. I hate cooking it. I have shopping for it. I can't figure out what will work and i don't have much money to waste buying a bunch of foods that aren't going to work or will go to waste. I am 43 years old and a single parent. I feel like a failure because i can't lose this weight. I think i would be happy if i could just lose @ 50 lbs. At least i could fit in the clothes i have. i can't afford to really buy a bunch of new clothes as i grow and grow. anyway...i have not even relayed to my family how this makes me feel...this failure. i cry everyday because on top of everything else i have to deal with i am obese. and miserable with it. any help, opinions or anything would be appreciated. especially about the supplements.
thanks!
Well, I've tried many supplements, from pills to Slim Fast, and I've tried living like a rabbit to try and lose weight. From my own experience...they don't work. For one thing, a lot of supplements just plain don't work period, and if they do work, it's not something you can take for the rest of your life. Sure, if you find one that works, you can lose weight. But unless you take it for life, how will you keep the weight off?
This is the first time I've managed to lose this much weight and to keep it off this long. And I didn't do any pills or fancy diets. I just changed my lifestyle. I started eating right...healthy. Wouldn't hurt for your kids to snack on apples instead of chips either. So replace all the unhealthy foods in the house gradually and get everyone on a healthy diet of lean meats, whole grains, natural sugars, good fats, complex carbs, and lots of water. Next is to start exercising. Depending on the kid or kids' ages, take family walks, or bicycle together. If they're too young, put them in a playpen and sweat to a video for an hour each day...something, anything, so that you get in daily exercise. Between eating healthy and exercising regularly, you can lose weight. And it becomes a lifestyle. You can find healthy foods you like that you stick to, and you can find exercises you like that you can stick to.
