new and fed up with this body!!!
I'm looking for a buddy that is going through the same thing I am. I need to lose at least 50 lbs and don't know where to start. I just hate the d word.
It seems so depressing. What do you do when you love to eat? By the way I'm in Mexico where the food is wonderful. |
Hello.......
Hello, and Welcome! Have you looked into doing Weight Watchers? I too like to eat, and hate to diet. I don't like having to count calories, measure everything, or write down anything I put in my mouth. I started doing the Core diet 4 weeks ago, and so far I love it. I do not have to count calories, or measure anything. The only things I have to keep track of are the foods I eat that are not on the Core plan. As Weight Watchers always says, it is not a diet but a lifestyle change...
I hope that you are able to find an eating plan that works for you. Good luck! |
Guadalajara!?!?! I've Been There!!
Hello Mexico!! We have so much in common! First of all, I need to loose 50lbs as well. Tried Atkins twice and failed miserably, in spite of following the rules stringently. So, now I'm starting Sugar Busters. Have a friend that did Weight Watchers and swears by it, but my mom and dad lost 50lbs each when my dad found out he was diabetic by controlling insulin production, so thought I'd try that since it worked for them and, hey, I'm cut from their cloth, right? If this doesn't work, then I'm trying Weight Watchers.
ALSO.... My dad used to work for Eastman Kodak and in 1985 or so he was sent to Guadalajara to help start up a plant there! He and my mom lived in Suites Margarita for a year. I went to visit them there and having never been outside of the United States, I have to say I suffered from a bit of culture shock. But once I got over actually seeing a man on the side of the road outside the airport, actually standing next to a donkey and actually wearing a striped Mexican blanket over his shoulder and actually wearing a sombrero (I said, "Hey, look, a Mexican guy!" and my mom said, "Get used to it, you're in Mexico!") It really is a beautiful city! I really enjoyed the way people drive in Mexico. We were at a red light and a woman was slowly sauntering across the street in front of three lanes of traffic and my dad says, "she better hurry up, cause if this light turns green before she gets across...." Scariest thing I saw was, apparently I was there around a presidential election and I saw some signs for someone running in the communist party! OH, and armed guards at the mall entrance and small police pick up trucks filled with rifle-wielding police officers! The grossest thing was the cafeteria level of the Markardo Libertad (I know I slaughtered the spelling of that...you must know what I mean). The most beautiful was the fountains at nearly every intersection and the gorgeous countryside. Most interesting thing was watching a big, black ash float from nowhere into my Un Coca, por favor (the only thing I can say with confidence in Spanish) that apparently came from the burning of the sugar cane fields. Too funny. Oh, the funniest thing was watching my Aunt tell a really nice, well-to-do woman named Maria that was my mom and dad's neighbor all about her favorite Mexican restaurant named Chi Chi's. She didn't know it's a slang term for a woman's...um...well, you know. Most puzzling/frustrating...siestas. I mean, the whole city shuts down for two hours in the middle of the day!! Of course, right when some foolish American needs to buy something or go somewhere and needs help and everything's closed. My trip to Guadalajara was so fun, though. A real learning experience. I'd love to go back, but my dad's retired now and living in Florida. Anyhow...if you'd like to be my weight loss buddy, I have to loose 50 lbs, too, to get to my original pre-weight gain weight of 130. So, PM me if you want or if you want to try Sugar Busters, get the book, read it and join us on the Sugar Busters board! You truly need to read the book first to truly understand how/why it works. We list what we've eaten for the day and what exercise we've accomplished. Good luck!! Nice to see you're from Guadalajara!! Kris |
