New and need help

:( Well I have been here almost a week and I need help with finding the right path. :^: Any buddys that have had this same problem let me know how you handled it. I don't even know what diet I should do I have failed them all at least once and I don't just want to give up all together. Any help would be great thanks!

Darlene,

I have been to this site off and on for two years. I too have tried every diet out there and even have succeeded, only to fail and go back to the old ways of eating. It's easier to give in than to stand and fight. Of all people, I should know better, I am an addictions counselor!!!! I have every book out there, every eating plan available and pfffffffft, there they sit.

This time last year I was at 213, feeling great and had great self confidence. Had my gall bladder removed in November and whamo..... okay okay I am justifying, but that's when I noticed the turn around.

I have been thinking "key word is "thinking" about restarting and getting WELL......to get jump started, I am contemplating using my left over Medifast shakes. (which I have over a months supply in an old cookie jar). Then move on to South Beach, possibly. The eggs were killing me.

Anyway...I know exactly how you are feeling! I am there! Drop a line, would love to chat with you or email from time to time!

Hang in there!

Jen

Okay, granted I am not a professional and I have just started to work through this, but You can try what I'm doing :) I also couldn't find anything I "fit" into as a diet either. I'm nearly a vegetarian (yes nearly, not a big fan of meat but still enjoy some of it!) so atkins really doesn't work for me, nor does South Beach. I'm a nearly poor college student so I can't afford a lot of diet foods either... so all diets I've tried have been hard.. Then I started to look at weight loss differently.

See, I'm not looking at the numbers - I'm not going on a "diet". I'm viewing this as a lifestyle change instead. My real goals are to make working out every day and eating healthier an every day habit. No numbers, no "diets" just working out, eating what you know is healthy but not punishing yourself when you "Cheat". Once these become habits then I'm going to worry about numbers.

Perhaps in a sense it is a diet, but think of it not as something you're doing to lose weight - but instead something you're doing to make your life healthier. More salad, more veggies and fruits, smaller portions, all three meals, water. It's not about just dropping the pounds but making your life healthier as well. Taking care of your organs and your body. Not a diet, a proper lifestyle.

The same goes with working out.

I hope that makes sense, and I hope that if you think it might work for you to try it out. Its really about a positive outlook for a healthier more fit life. I don't watch my calories, or my carbs, I don't ban any "yummy" foods from my life.. I just restrict them to a limit.

If you want I can let you know how my progress goes after a while :)
:grouphug: You can do this. Look at your life and ask yourself how happy you are with your habits. Ask yourself sensibly if you are doing the most that you can to ensure yourself a healthy future and body (and happy!) and then take the steps that you feel (and research on) will make you happy. Small steps make a big difference as well, don't forget that.

If you ever need to talk feel free to PM or e-mail me any time.
