kerryclem 08-10-2004 03:52 PM

are you looking for a local buddy or is long distance ok? What plan are you going to use?
I have about 70lbs to loose myself and am fast approaching 30 (I'll be 26 in October). I need someone to be accountable to.
I'm Kerry and I'm doing the Abs Diet in South Florida.

Count me in too!

Only just started myself and need all the buddies I can get! ;)

kerryclem 08-11-2004 08:07 AM

LOL 25 may not be fast approaching 30 for some, but with two small kids the years seem to already be flying by.... 26 is less than 2 months away, and I swear that I just turned 21 a few weeks ago ;)

kerryclem 08-11-2004 08:10 AM

So what is everyone doing to lose weight here?? I already said that I'm doing the Abs Diet (6 small meals a day, portion control, healthy carbs, lots of fruits and veggies, low fat with an exercise regimen), but I'm interested in what everyone else is doing, too....

I'll buddy up too. Last year I counted calories and was successful at loosing weight. I'm starting the same way again this year. I find it works best with a hectic schedule. I'm also going to try to limit white flour foods and increase protein (which I always seem to lack in my diet). What do people feel about wine - none? some? I have a glass a few times a week - very relaxing after a long and busy day.

kerryclem 08-11-2004 12:30 PM

IMHO, 2-3 drinks per weeks TOPS is okay....... I won't have more than that, though......
JMHO.....

Count me in! This last year has been unbelievable....I did manage to maintain my 20 lb loss from early 2003. I am now 180.6. my highest was 202. I am TRYING the low carb thing. A car accident in early April put a kink in my exercising. I am trying to pick up Pilates again and meditating. It helped before. I am tracking everything that I put in my mouth with fitday.com It really makes a huge difference and I see what i need to cut back on and what I need to get more of....

I have before and after pictures, I'm updating my website so it will take a couple days to get the link up for you

anonymous_christy 08-11-2004 02:10 PM

tiredoffat 08-11-2004 02:59 PM

Wow!

Amber, you are an inspiration for me.

I keep checking in as this is my first day. Every time I get a craving I check into this website for a new tip or helpful quote.

I find that everytime the kids get to me, I reach for food. Actually food has been my "drug" for so long that there are a lot of habits to break.

Thanks all for the inspiration. I can't do it alone either. I love hearing your stories.

Found this website last week and have been on it every day so far. Certainly helps being able to talk to like minded people with similar goals and worries!

Amby876 08-11-2004 05:46 PM

Well today was hard...grocery shopping and hungry....NUFF SAID....But I went right for the cold beverage case and got a bottle of water and downed about half of that...got plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean meat...no breads or pastas or cereal...trying to stick to low carb. I stuck to my list and left. I did come out of walmart with a small treat for myself. I am trying those 100 calorie packs...i got the Oreo ones...I will let you know what they are like. As soon as i got home, i made a fruit salad of pineapple chunks, 1 granny smith apple, strawberries and 1 banana. I barely finished half.

Here is a list of supplements i am taking that seem to be helping with my appitite

one-a-day weight smart about 20 minutes after breakfast
vitamin E (for my skin)
Beta caratene (vitamin A)
and I started a B Complex vitamin today (energy and metablism)
and 50 mg 5-HTP (helps with depression, stress, appitite, and sleep)

I was taking Xenadrine EFX but it was making me depressed...so i stopped taking it.

I used to get sick every year, cronique bronchitis, and it would linger for about 6 mos. But since i have been taking these. I had an ear infection last Nov, and Haven't had a problem since...not even with my allergies.

Is anyone else taking anything?

Amby876 08-11-2004 05:49 PM

PS - I tried the Oreo thingies...YUMMY....tast like oreos without the cream filling...and there is alot in the packs. You have to try them if you like Oreos like i do

Girly2004 08-11-2004 06:48 PM

I just started the new Step Diet and am in stage 1 which is journaling what i eat and strapping on the oh so stylish pedometer lol
Diet seems pretty easy to follow and hopefully will work cause its not to rigid.

junebug5883 08-11-2004 08:30 PM

Hello! I just started, or "re-started", I should say my weightloss journey. I could use a few buddies to talk to and chat with, seems like this is the place to come for that :)

tiredoffat 08-11-2004 09:01 PM

I'm glad to be here with so many people restarting or starting for the first time. Does anyone have any good ways to get more protein. My diet lacks that. Also, I asked before but does anyone have any rules about wine - how much, if any. Any thoughts about the affect when dieting. I'm used to having a glass a few nights a week. - Mo

Wow....

oh my, I just stumbled upon this website tonight and I'm so glad. My entire family has been overweight for several generations and it seems like they are all suddenly dropping the pounds and shedding the inches since my mother had gastric-bypass. I'm a college student living off whatever food I can find, basically. I've been trying for so long to lose weight and I'm really hoping this forum will help keep me on track. I'd love a buddy! Y'all seem so great around here. :balloons:

Thanks!!

Belldandy

Amby876 08-11-2004 10:10 PM

Belldandy - Welcome!!

Gastric bypass isn't a cureall...most people that have the surgery regain 50% of what they lost after surgery. My mother gained almost all of it back.

I was bad...I had bread with supper...SHAME ON ME! oh well...there is always tomorrow

tiredoffat - wine is a big no no...it's slows down the metabolism...matter of fact...all alcohol is on the no list. Sorry sweetie!

I have one major weakness...Chocolate chip cookies...not packaged...the refrigerated dough stuff...i like the dough and the fresh cookies out of the oven...anyone have any suggestions?? HELP!? I have a 1/2 dozen of them on the counter screaming at me!

tiredoffat 08-12-2004 09:23 AM

Hi Belldandy - I hope you'll continue to write on this site. I'll be your buddy.
Amber - thanks for the wine news. Last night I was so hungry and used to my evening glass of wine. I had a feeling wine was off limits so I made this great salad full of all kinds of veggies and some turkey and a little cheese. It filled me up. I felt better this morning too.

Another great event. This morning when I went swimming there happened to be a coach there. She pushed me a lot and had me do a workout I've never done before.

I keep looking at your stats - inspiring! I'm not going to weigh myself again until I've done a week of exercise and diet. I'm on day 4 for ex. and day 2 for diet.

I'm counting calories. I started the day with oj, cereal and fruit. Coffee too. What's your take on coffee? I love it, but it seems like it makes me want to eat more.

Have a great day all. It's so great to have a site full of supportive people in this difficult challenge.

Thanks Everyone!

My mom is actually doing great, it's been about a year and she just lost another 10 lbs after not losing for about a month. We're all very proud of her. =) She knows it isn't a quick fix but she lost enough that she could have one knee replaced and let it heal mostly before having the other. It made a big difference for her.
