Hi new here

Hi, I'm new here and I'm looking for advice. Last year I lost 52 pounds and had 34 to go. 10 weeks ago I decided to quit smoking and have gained back about 12. I don't want to go back to smoking but I worked so hard to lose the weight. Are there any ex-smokers out there with the same issues? Are there any forums that you'd reccomend? Kerry

Thinking of quiting

Kerry,

Since I have been thinking of quiting and have gained some weight over the last year or so, I have decided to start the South Beach Diet. My plan is to take off the weight put on so far then keep with the program while I quit smoking.

Actually, the regimen of the SBD is what gave me the incentive to quit.

What do you think?

Rhonda

Have you started SBD yet? I'd love to hear how you like it. Anyway, I lost my weight on Weight Watchers and originally my plan was to do what you are doing. The problem was, it took my about a year and a half to lose the 52 (a long time, I know) and the loss really started to slow down. I have smoked for a long time and thought, 'If it takes as long or longer to lose the rest, I will still be smoking even longer.' So I took the plunge and did it. Believe me it's hard but I've been off smokes since May 4th and need to stick with it. I do understand where you're coming from though, it's really hard to do both at the same time!!! Let me know how you're doing. Kerry :)
