New Mommies

I'm not precisely a new member, but a returning one. You can't diet while you're pregnant! If you look at my second daughter's birth date, you can tell I'm a bit impatient to get back into the swing of things!

Still I'm trying to be reasonable about it all, as I've not had the staples from my c-section removed yet (Yay babies who try to walk out into the world!). My immediate goal is to maintain my current weight of 208 until March, when it will be warm enough to start my walks again. I know it's possible to lose weight while breastfeeding without compromising your milk supply if you're careful; another reason for not trying to actually lose weight for more than a month is to get my supply well-established.

I'm looking for other new mommies to buddy up with, or perhaps other people who are concentrating more on increased exercise.

Like I said, I was here before. During that time I went from 224 to 192 (so I've got 16 pounds of "baby weight" to lose right now, though I'm certain some small portion is accounted for by milk! ). My exercise is typically walking & weight training, with some Pilates/Yoga thrown in for fun. :) I don't follow any specific diet, though I'm closest to SugarBusters. I try to restrict my intake of sugar & refined carbs. Since I've got PCOS this is what works for me.

Anyone else with similar stats or regimen who wants to buddy up?

Congratulations on the new baby, GBMM. :bb: I hope things go well for you and that you have a ton of support. You are so smart to not want to compromise your milk supply. I wish you all the best. I have an 8 month old DS, wouldn't trade him for the world. But I should put him to bed as it's 10:30

And I thought I was impatient!!

Well I thought I was bad - My son was born on 12th January 2004 and I can't wait to get the all clear from my doc to start dieting!!

I'm 28, 5'5'' weigh 195 pounds and like you have polycystic ovaries so my choice of diet is somewhat limited(guess you already know that!!) My husband is lovely but one of those men that eats like a horse and never puts on more than 2 pounds!! He weighs what he weighed when I met him over 5 years ago, I sadly weigh about 50 pounds more than I did - if you fancy a chat send me a message

Ah, good to hear from you!

I'm in no particular hurry to watch what I eat, but I sure hated the lack of exercise during my pregnancy because I felt so rotten!

My husband needs to lose weight too, because he's in the military. And because he has to do it he's been dragging his feet. Funny, though, how having two children will motivate you! He wants to be sure he can retire. (Nine years & one more enlistment away from that!) I've warned him I'll be dragging him along with me this time.

Sonia, what is your goal weight? I'm aiming for 150 - 155 which is either on the high end of normal or slightly overweight, depending on what "ideal weight" scales you look at. But for me it's a healthy weight, I know that from the past. :)
