One Day at a Time

Hi ya'll!

I am all about setting goals and trying to reach them...BUT one thing that I have learned is that dieting is a "One day at a Time" type of thing.

I am 24, I started at 202 in Dec '02 and lost 15 lbs or so from then still Feb '03. THEN I slacked off...BIG time. I started going to Curves in May '03 and lost 10 lbs and lost 17.25 inches. I am holding steady at 178-179. I want to get down to 125 by my birthday (Sept 11) ...That is 34 weeks - ish. I am looking for buddies to join me. I am going to put in my link to my fitday.com journal so I can share my goods and bads with all of you.

Hi Amber
Welcome back to 3FC
Well, we have some similarities. My high was 202 as well, (that doesn't include when I was 9 months pregnant, that's an exemption). You have 53-54 pounds to lose and I have 52 to lose. I'm 26 and my birthday is in October and I want to reach goal by my birthday as well. I'm married and have an 8 month old adorable baby boy. I'm online several times per day unless I go away for the day. Maybe we could support each other in this "losing" battle which we will win.
Anyways I should go

Diana,

Nice to meet you. I am single, no kids....

I went to the grocery store today, bought all the makings for salads, fruits, wheat bread, yogurt. I lost weight last year by doing that and working out 30 minutes a day 5-6 days a week (nothing hard core, just cardio and mild weight training)...although I am considering getting a personal trainer...I love the stationary bike and the elipticle as well. I also go to Curves for Women 2-3 days a week and I do Pilates as well. I don't do all of this everyday, this is to toss up the routine so my muscles do not get used to a certain thing.

Talk to you soon

Hi Amber -
It sounds like we have a lot of similar goals! Wanna be buddies? :D

I'm 25 yo, single, no kids.... I'm 5'1", 170.5 at last weigh in. I'd like to lose about 50 pounds as well. I'm going to Curves 3x a week. Been a member since October but haven't had encouraging results yet. I was a Curves member last year (10/02 - 04/03) and lost 10 inches so I know it can be done! I just need to stick with it this time.

Anyways, nice to meet you!

Amy

Hi Amber and Amy

I hope you had a good day. I was at my Mom's all day and I enjoyed that. That's why I didn't check the site this morning. Well, I wish we had a curves here but we don't. I use my exercise bike everyday for 30-45 minutes. I'm waiting for the exercise videos that I ordered online to come in. That will make my workouts a bit more varied. I also got some new weights that I'm waiting to try out with the videos. I go to WW, but only for a few more weeks as I find it very expensive. I have the material though and will jsut do it at home with the support of friends around me and online.

Wow, you're thinking of a personal trainer Amber. That sounds like it would be fun. Do they cost a fair bit? I would imagine, but I don't have access to that type of thing here.

Well, have a good evening ladies.
Diana

I envy all of y'alls dedication. :cb: I am lucky to get a 30 minute walk in every other day... I have a 10 month old and a husband who is a firefighter so every 3rd day its just me and my son... and when its cold out, I don't like to take him out in it. I work 5 days a week, 7:30-4, get home at 4:30, get supper ready, feed the baby, then have my play time with him until about 7 then its bath time, bottle time, and bed for him. Then I get stuff ready for the next day, sit down for a few minuted and I'm usually in the bed by 9. I have thought about how I could put a daily routine into my schedule but unless I get up at 5 on days that my husband is home, there's no way.
:dunno:

Can anyone help my solve my dilemma? Any ideas or suggestions would be SO appreciated! Thanks in advance!! :dizzy:

Welcome Fifty Seven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DewCan 01-20-2004 02:56 PM

Welcome 57!

Para, could your husband bet supper ready or feed the baby, or bath the baby while you exercise? Go for a walk, get an exercise bike (used). How long do you get for lunch? Maybe go for a walk during that time. Just some suggestions.

I don't get a lunch due to me working in a 9-1-1 center... My biggest thing is that I only get 3 hours a day M-F with my son... I feel like i need to spend ALL the time I can with him when I'm home. He loves to be outside so on nice days he goes walking with me after work but when its cold I don't like taking him out... I wish there was something I could do with him inside.. he doesn't like watching me move.. he wants to be moving too!!

chequitagirl 01-20-2004 03:12 PM

how about going to a mall or somewhere else inside to walk. i would rather walk outside myself but in very cold weather i walk at the mall or the civic center.

paragoddess 01-21-2004 11:53 AM

We do sometimes go to the mall.. except we live at least 30 minutes.. we're going to be getting some fitness equipment at our new fire station so that will be easier to do... bring a video for him to watch while I do the treadmill and what not.. so things are looking brighter!! :cb:

chequitagirl 01-21-2004 11:55 AM

sounds like a plan

Hi Everyone!

I got on the scale this morning. After "messing up" yesterday having pizza at work (4 slices)...I thought I had really messed up. BUT I have maintained my weight loss and I am at 177.6 as of this morning. A few of the girls at work and I have decided to make it a group thing with an incentive. We put in $5 from each paycheck. At the end of the month, whoever lost the most weight, gets the pot. I WILL WIN! :high:

Amby876 02-09-2004 03:00 PM

As of this morning, I am down to 172.4! I am doing so well! I am working out, and just making healthy choices on what I eat...

chequitagirl 02-09-2004 03:04 PM

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!! amber on the losses. you are doing great. keep up the good work.

Same boat...

Hi...I'm Darcie, a housewife in Fremont, CA, looking for someone to go down the beaten path of diet and fitness with. It seems like you're in my boat, around the same weight and with the same goals, and I would also like to see my goals reached by my birthday, which is September 10th. I'm 24, a smoker who desperately wants to quit, and am going through the diet and fitness with my husband. However, I'm looking for a woman who knows what it's like to be overweight and understands what that does to your body image and self-esteem. Anyone interested in sharing frustrations, struggles, achievements and day-to-day life, post a message to me on here or on AIM: bertcie.

Different diets attempted: Atkins, Slim Fast, cabbage stew (for heart patients) and regular diet and exercise with Xenodrine. That last one actually worked but we fell off the wagon! We're jumping back on though!
