Doing this for my life
I'm once again on the weight loss and fitness wagon. I have different reasons than I did the last time I was here, which was 4 years ago! I can't believe it. Before it was about appearance. This time I have more at stake. I am awaiting surgery at the moment, so I am unable to do much physical activity. In this condition I realize how much I miss being able to move my body and do things for myself. I want more than anything to be fit and strong once again. I think about the time I was a gym rat and worked all day long without fatigue, and I miss being that person. More importantly, I am now a Mom. I have a little one watching me. I want more than anything to be a good example of body positivity and strength for her, and I want to be around to see her accomplishments in life. I do not want her to see my struggle with weight, food and constant dieting. Right now she's young enough to change my life and make it so she doesn't have to be subjected to that battle. I certainly do not want to be a frail and incapacitated burden on her when I am older. So I am here for accountability and motivation, even if nobody else is a part of my journey. This site has helped me more than anything else I have used. Looking forward to the new me and my new life!

I am with you as well. It was for looks before but now I have been diagnosed with a precursor condition to cancer. The only thing proven to keep it from progressing -- losing weight.
And it is too hard to do so. I seem to only lose weight if I starve myself. From December to February I fasted and lost a solid 10 lbs and didn't gain it back. But to do that I had to "fast" for a 36 hour period each week. The only good news was that after losing that weight... I ate normally again and didn't gain anything back. So I am wondering if fasting does work to keep your metabolism up. But i haven't been able to lose again just eating less calories. |
