Doing this for my life

I'm once again on the weight loss and fitness wagon. I have different reasons than I did the last time I was here, which was 4 years ago! I can't believe it. Before it was about appearance. This time I have more at stake. I am awaiting surgery at the moment, so I am unable to do much physical activity. In this condition I realize how much I miss being able to move my body and do things for myself. I want more than anything to be fit and strong once again. I think about the time I was a gym rat and worked all day long without fatigue, and I miss being that person. More importantly, I am now a Mom. I have a little one watching me. I want more than anything to be a good example of body positivity and strength for her, and I want to be around to see her accomplishments in life. I do not want her to see my struggle with weight, food and constant dieting. Right now she's young enough to change my life and make it so she doesn't have to be subjected to that battle. I certainly do not want to be a frail and incapacitated burden on her when I am older. So I am here for accountability and motivation, even if nobody else is a part of my journey. This site has helped me more than anything else I have used. Looking forward to the new me and my new life!

100 pounds???!! That's amazing! If you did it before you can do it again!

I am with you as well. I lost 50 pounds a few year ago was down to 155 only 10 lbs from my goal weight. Now I have gained it all back and more. My health is not good - high blood pressure, sleep apena and problems with my knee and si joints. I want to do this for my health and not to yo-yo again. I need support so am back here.

I am with you as well. It was for looks before but now I have been diagnosed with a precursor condition to cancer. The only thing proven to keep it from progressing -- losing weight.

And it is too hard to do so. I seem to only lose weight if I starve myself.

From December to February I fasted and lost a solid 10 lbs and didn't gain it back. But to do that I had to "fast" for a 36 hour period each week.

The only good news was that after losing that weight... I ate normally again and didn't gain anything back. So I am wondering if fasting does work to keep your metabolism up.

But i haven't been able to lose again just eating less calories.

I also have problems with my SI joints and pelvis since childbirth, in addition to the disc that needs to be operated on. Coming here keeps me accountable, even if I can't be active right now. I'm hopeful that I can get surgery and return to an active life and avoid obesity related disease. I want to live a long time! I am using MyFitnessPal again, which works to keep me honest about what I'm eating and I can track my weight. I know this time will be harder than the last times but I know I can do it. I have to. I have a little girl who depends on me!

Have you tried intermittent fasting, either alone or with a change in your macronutrients? That may be enough to jump start you again, and a lot of people enjoy eating that way, since they can eat meals that are bigger. I have done that before and I find it works pretty well. I won't be doing it now because I eat meals with my family and I can't really explain that to my little one. She would just keep try to feed me lol.

Totally agree with the others, if you did it once, you can absolutely do it again, and even better this time :carrot:
