Losing more then the weight! Mehh!

Hello! So I have been changing my lifestyle for a while now. Last year I took off 30 and so far this year it's been 18. I'm just making better food choices and just started to be more active with my time. Anyway! What's up with my hair nowwwwwww!:?: I'm so upset! It is thin, breaking and I cut it 2 times now it was soooooo long then cut it to a medium length, now its above my shoulders!!... I take a daily vitamin and eat plenty protein I think. I had blood test nothing seems out of whack all the ladys in my family has great hair... what's going on? Please share your story, advise, etc thank you!

Are you eating a balanced diet, including vegetables, legumes, and nuts/seeds? These foods are good for hair health.

It's possible that you might have a nutrient deficiency. I suggest using a nutrient tracker such as Cronometer to track what you eat for a few days, so you can see if you're getting enough of every nutrient.

Yeah, mine's a bit shonky with losing 30% body weight last year. Don't know whether that was the weight loss or just age. It's not thinning, it's just breaking. It was worse for a few months a few months ago, but definitely breakable. I'm 51. I've eaten a good high protein diet all along, so nothing to be improved there for me. I try to make sure that i'm using conditioners/serums so that I can comb it easily after washing and i'm not yanking knots, but it's not been great tbh. I also bleach/highlight my hair so that's probably not helping and I've sort of been growing out the bleached bit recently in the hope the natural colour is stronger. So yeah, not much advice there, but a fellow sufferer!

Protein deficiency is rare. Other nutrient deficiencies are more common. Many nutrients are important for hair health, for example iron, zinc, omega 3, B vitamins, and several others.

See this article for information about each nutrient's effect on hair: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5315033/
