What you eat is more important than how much you eat, so focus on trying to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Healthy food is more filling than junk food, so you'll be less likely to overeat.
If you want to follow a specific diet, then I suggest the Mediterranean diet.
If you just want a few simple rules to follow, then I recommend avoiding sweets, refined carbs, and deep fried foods. Make sure you eat a lot of vegetables, and eat enough protein and healthy fats.
If you're not sure if your diet is good, you can post a list of foods that you eat, and I'll let you know if I have any suggestions.
Hello, Kountdrakula3, I'm also new. I quit smoking 9 years ago and for me, the weight gain was minimal. My biggest issue was the smokers cough that followed for several months. I was hacking almost everyday. I agree that eating more sensibly is the best way to keep the weight from creeping on while your body adjusts to having to create it's own nicotine again.
