ten years later, now 50andstillfat

Amazing, I read a post today about fasting, eating one meal a day, and ended up back here, almost 10 years to the day since I joined 3FC. I'm fatter than I was then, fatter than ever. Nothing I have tried has been long-term. Low carb has (20 g a day / Atkins) has been the only way I've lost. In the past, hubby was a big reason I failed. One week into Atkins, he would talk about wanting hoagies or some other favorite food of mine. Now, HE started doing his own version of Atkins. He's LOSING LIKE CRAZY and looks great. He has coffee with French Vanilla creamer every morning, then a light salad for lunch, keeping low carb, under 20 g a day including eggs or steak for dinner. Then, this is the interesting part, he cheats every.single.weekend. On Saturdays he eats whatever he wants. Back on plan on Sunday.

I am going to try his version of the diet, but add in fasting. I have turned 50 and know that I live to eat. I love food more than you probably love just about anything. My biggest weakness right now is Asian food. There is so much great Asian food in my town.

Anyhow. That's my plan. Starting tomorrow. One meal a day, no carbs until that meal, 20 g a day. My biggest roadblock: hubby's weight is falling off, seriously. But when I last did Atkins, I lost 4 pounds in two weeks.

Perk: I've never felt better than when I reached that 4 pounds. I felt springier and younger.

Ends droning on.

Hi 40stillfat. Welcome back to 3FatChicks. I hope you continue to come here and post. The forum can be a great motivator and help to keep you on plan.

Isn't it something how men seem to lose faster than we do. I think you should take advantage of the fact that DH is sticking to plan and join in with him. It's not really good to take a day off on weekends because it can throw you out of ketosis, but if it's working for him, don't knock it! I would be so happy if my DH would give up his carbs so they aren't here to tempt me.

Good luck to you!

Same thing with my annoying other half. He's not watching anything except what goes in his mouth. I'm on a 1200 calorie plan. I love to cook so I'm not bored with food. I'm losing consistently. He eats ice cream, candy bars, soda and other junk,i stay away from but still seems to not gain anything. Ughh

OMGosh!!!! This can't be just a coincidence! I ran across a low-carb IF blog today and found myself back here today after 10 years (was in my early 40's when I joined) as well! I joined 10 years ago in May, managed to lose about 6 stone with hCG and kept it off effortlessly for a quite a bit, then had a long bout with prednisone that really did me in and I'm now back to where I started. I've been unable to source the hCG I has so much success with so giving low-carb IF a go and hoping it can work for me.

We've got this, girl! :dust:
