6 Months to 35

Hi and thanks for having me and reading this. As the title implies, I have about 6 months until I turn 35 -- and this birthday has got me a bit freaked out. Don't get me wrong, I think aging is a privilege. But, I've been obese for what feels like my whole life. I don't want to spend the rest of my life being obese and 35 just FEELS like it is the start of the rest of my life.

So the plan is to count calories and move more - it's worked before! A little different this time around in that I became a vegan a few months ago - so I'm excited to see how that changes, and hopefully expedites, things! I've also had some success with Weight Watchers before, so I really hope this group will be similar. You know, that accountability and friends!

My current mantra is "I embrace health and weight loss. I release doubt and fear." So yay :)

Welcome, Flyby35!

Good work making the decision to change things to improve your health. That part is often not easy for anyone! I think it makes a lot of sense to not want to be obese for the rest of your life (same here), and to do something about it. Congrats on becoming vegan! It's a very conscious, helpful way to live.

On this site there are several more active threads in various areas of the forum. Some are challenges (weight loss, habit changes, exercise, etc.), some are daily accountability and support, some are support for getting out of certain weight 'decades', some support for different health issues (depression, binge eating, diabetes, etc.). Take a look around and see what works for you.

We're glad to have you!

Welcome Flyby - There are many sources of support and advice here. Good luck in your journey. I know, for me, I just woke up one day about 2 years ago and said "enough!" Calorie watching and exercise worked for me. I hope you find success and some support here.
