New and nervous

  • I've been overweight a long, long time. My doctor has suggested I go on the Keto Diet and kick my butt in gear so things don't slide further. She told me to take a week, order a couple books, make a plan and proceed so I've got a start date of next Monday.

Today I received the books I ordered and I'm trying to educate myself on this new way of eating and all the ways it can benefit my body but overall I'm nervous. I'm nervous that it won't work, that I won't succeed, that I'll have trouble finding balance between what my family craves, wants, needs and what I need.

Overall I agree with my doctor though. I know this is what I need right now and that it's a good jump on some major lifestyle changes that must be made. So, if you are Keto as well I'd love to hear from you. =)
  • Welcome SheHikes36! Great idea to read through the books and getting prepared before beginning a new plan. I do not do keto, but I do eat on the low carb side. Keto can be hard to start, especially if you have been a carb eating in the past. Don't be thinking all the what-ifs. Just believe that you can and will succeed. The best way to do it is not to bring anything into the house that you shouldn't be eating, and you can't do that with a family who is not eating keto. I have learned to stay away from my husband's snacks and sweets, and when I cook dinner, I just include a starch item for him, such as potatoes or rice. There are ways to make it work.

    Good luck to you.
  • Thank you Carol!
