Trying to hold myself accountable
Hi everyone! My name is Caroline, I'm 25, and I'm sick of what I see in the mirror.
Well, it's not exactly true. On most days, I can be quite content with it, but I want to be more than content. I want to love what I see. I've never really lost weight before, except the 15 lbs I shed when I spent a summer touring Great Britain and France in 2014. I've since then gained half of it back. I guess I have a hard time believing I can succeed in losing weight? I've tried on and off for as long as I can remember, but it never worked. Lately, I'd been using My Fitness Pal and it kind of worked, but I wasn't disciplined enough. I'm hoping that a community can help me achieve that. My goal is to have lost the 60 lbs I want to lose before my best friend's wedding in July. I feel like it's a reasonable goal, I just need to be serious about it. |
Hey! Come and join us in the 20somethings group! We have various people who use various methods. I use My Fitness pal also, It really does take dedication, but I know that at 285lbs, If I am not dedicated to losing weight, I might as well give up now. It really is about preparation for your week, the dedication to move more than you do just now and to (like you said) hold yourself accountable on your weight loss so that You feel more motivated to show results.
We have a Christmas challenge on just now that you might enjoy :D |
I'll go right away!
I was mulling it over in the shower this morning and I realize that I might be better off starting after the holidays... like I was thinking about my whole month of December and it's so charged and filled with food with Christmas baking and parties and such, that I might be setting myself up for failure if I start, say, next week like I'd originally thought. I know a lot can be said about the reliability of New Year resolutions, but we'll see. We'll see. I need to keep in mind that it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. |
Its a long hall change, New year would be a great time to start fresh!
Just don't give yourself too much work to do by overdoing it throughout December, Enjoy in moderation, get out and about and walk and do more moving. Once you have a read around what we are all up to on this site, then it might give you better knowledge of where and how to start come January. :D |
Yeah, no, for sure. I'm always watching what I eat and trying to control so I at least maintain my current weight, I'll keep that up during Christmas.
Those are great ideas, thanks! Reading around a bit has already given me so much motivation :) |
good luck!!!
