Default Dear Americans...

Hello, this question has been bothering me for a while as I read a lot of American books and watch a lot of American tv shows. What on earth are biscuits? Over her in the UK a biscuit is what I believe you would call a cookie and I haven't been able to work out what our equivalent of your biscuit is. Any help in answering this would be appreciated. slimmingsi would also like to know what grits are?

Biscuits are a fluffy bread here in America. I'll attach a picture.
Grits are made from corn, boiled and often savory seasoned. They're traditionally southern, but lots of people enjoy them. For me, they're a bit mushy to be good. Likewise, picture attached.

Scones are probably the closest UK equivalent, but biscuits are generally a bit sweeter and fluffier.
