Hey Guys!

New member here. I've got about 60 lbs. to lose, and am very much looking forward to all the great info and support from interaction with you all. About 20 years ago I lost 80 lbs. and kept it off until about 5 years ago when it started to creep back on. It's wake up time, and I'm determined to lose it all again. I've been intermittent fasting, in conjunction with the Wheat Belly diet for not quite a month. I've lost 11 lbs. so far, and am doing great! I would love to hear your stories. Thanks for letting me join in the fun!

I am always amazed at people who can fast. It's nearly impossible for me. Good luck with your 11 lost! I'm trying to slim down about 25 pounds total, and have lost 5 in the past week doing slow, sustainable things like eating fresher and almost-daily strength training workouts.

I don't know much about the Wheat Belly diet. How do you like it?

Thanks for the well wishes! I thought intermittent fasting would be hard for me too, but after the first few days it really hasn't been. I'm leaving a 16 hour period that I do not get food. That sounds horrible, but if you do it at night you're sleeping a good chunk of that time. I don't eat anything after 7 PM, then eat again at about 11 AM the next morning, then have dinner. The meals I eat are planned around the Wheat Belly philosophy. I don't eat anything with wheat gluten in it. Low carb, moderate good fats. I really haven't missed the wheat. I try to keep the calories at 1200-1500. I've discovered almond flour, which is low carb and grain free and have made several kinds of breads with it. They are really good! On the down side, almond flour is expensive so I try to keep the baking to a minimum. So far so good. I will say this, it's the first diet (of MANY I have been on) that I haven't cheated. It will be a month next Monday since I started. I haven't been hungry at all. I've also been off the booze since then, and do I miss my wine! I've tried everything to be able to drink and lose weight at the same time, but it just doesn't work that way. Thanks for the welcome!

Oh God, it's the truth. I have a stash of wine I haven't touched (it's only been a week for me) and while I appreciate feeling healthier and lighter, there are some days when a glass would be a relief.

Your diet sounds very sustainable. I haven't been on any official program, but I have almost completely eliminated foods with flour, compared to what I used to eat. We are on a similar calorie trajectory as well!

Once my first 20 days have passed and I get PM capabilities, I'd love to keep in touch with you on the regular.

That would be great! You have a lot less to lose than I do, so after you've reached your goal I will use your success as inspiration to press on! :-) I just joined yesterday, so I'll be waiting on PM rights as well. In the meantime, I'll see you here!
