Hello everyone - I'm so glad I found this board! I'm fat, female and 55. I am retired and live in the central part of the U.S. I have fought my weight since I was 9 or 10 years old and have gone up and down the scale. Right now, I am at my heaviest weight ever. Through the years, I think I've bought or borrowed every diet book on the market. I would like to lose right at 100 pounds which would put me at 170. I am 5'7", so think that would be a good target, at least for now. I haven't been in "One-derland" since 2002, so think that would be my most thrilling dieting milestone. I hope to spend a lot of time at this board and get to know you all. Though I've posted at a couple of message boards in the past, they had nothing to do with dieting/weight loss, so this will be a brand new experience for me!
Welcome! You are not alone here. That's why we're here to support one another. Stay tuned for encouragement on the board. I remember growing up hearing, "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again." Meaning, "You CAN DO IT!" Just stick to it. Never, never, never give up!
I am originally from Wisconsin. I have always experienced the Midwest folks to be very friendly and easy to get to know.
I think that's great that you were able to retire already. My goal is to get to next February.... at least... then I will have achieved 20 years in our retirement system here. I may stay up to an extra 1.5 years, but we'll see how things go.
