First Step of the Race
Hi, all!
I'm a lifelong "fat chick" and diet-failure who is going to get it right eventually, hopefully this time! Of course I want to lose weight, but I'm trying to think in terms of positives these days. I want to gain strength and self-discipline and the ability to run a mile instead of waddling it. ;) I'm a writer, so my job is about as sedentary as a job gets. And with deadlines fast approaching I have been super stressed lately, so I'm joining the site in hopes of getting some support and giving some support and holding myself accountable. I want to be more active in general. And I'll start up with calorie counting again, which has been more successful in the past than other diet methods for me. (I lost forty pounds a couple of years ago, but then life happened and I fell off of the wagon and watched it roll off into the sunset.) I'm trying to walk 10,000 steps a day. According to my fitness band, I'm only getting in about 7500 right now, but that can change! Anyway, just looking for some internet friends and accountability buddies. I'm going to try to post ever day to keep myself motivated. Nice to meet you all! |
:welcome: to the 3FC community! I totally get what you mean...my old job while I was at a local community college was just about as bad, and with all the snack foods around...well, you know how that goes.
Best of luck with the calorie counting! I found that I got too obsessive with everything when counting calories, so although I'm still a label reader, I focus more on sugars. :p Hope to see you around! |
Hello, Elpis!
I love your 10,000 steps a day goal. It sounds like it's something you can achieve, but will still take some effort each day. Perfect! My job is also very sedentary, I completely understand. I am using myfitnesspal.com to help with my food tracking. I recently discovered that while I was doing quite well with my calories, that's not all I had to worry about. The website tracking has shown me that my sodium intake was completely out of control, and my sugar/carbs weren't so great either. It was eye opening and I've really noticed a positive change since making a few little adjustments. I'm a lifelong 'fatchick' too, and am determined to make this work. I hope we can both keep each other accountable, and be a part of each other's support systems. :) |
Hi Elpis and welcome :)
