Default Newbie-lost weight put them on and it's back again

Hi all,

I am new to this site but not new to yo yo dieting. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago then put it back on then some. I think I lost about 60 lbs then put it back on +30 lbs so about 90lbs back on.

Mostly my fault and life, bf breaking up, jobs etc. The usual stuff. but now I am back on my diet regime and trying to gain back a grasp on life.

I am dieting on my own and lost about 20 lbs in the last 5 months. But I realized I need a support group to go through this cause I can easily fall back and binge eat (which I have done.)

So would love to get some buddies and going towards a healthier life!!

Welcome--the best thing to do is eliminate the word diet from your vocabulary. In brain speak it's a very scary intimidating word--that typically sends more people running to the refrigerator, as if they have lost their best friend.

Refer to this new adventure in life as a lifestyle change--meaning forever. Don't go on any crazy weird diets that promise overnight weight loss--they don't work--for long term success.

Don't eliminate the foods you like from your plan, just eat a lot less of them. It's pretty simple--"eat less--move more" makes a thinner, happier healthier you. Make healthier choices when the opportunity is there. But if you've just got to have candy or cake--make them 1/10th the size you used to eat.

It's simple--calories consumed during the day versus calories burned in a day. Sign up for myfitnesspal--a free app that has an enormous food database that makes it very easy for you to keep track of your calories, and you can also add in a workout. Fitbit or Jawbone UP to track how many steps you take in a day that will sync with myfitnesspal giving you a very accurate picture of what you're doing during the day.

Good Luck and Welcome

Hey and welcome!!! I am new here too Ill be your buddy!!

Firstly congratulations on making the decision to make a lifestyle change! I agree with Kscott.. dont think of it as a diet... it is definitely a transformation ... to a new lifestyle, so it takes time...

And I know about the yo yo's and Ive seen it so many times friends and family trying one 'diet' after another that just does not work for them.

What worked for me is eating clean all natural no ready meals or processed food. And I got on the Project 10 Challenge which is AWESOME! Has changed my life!!! Losing weight by focusing on 10 pounds at a time, doing it with friends and a big support group and for every 10 pounds I lose, 30 healthy meals are donated to a child who suffers from obesity or malnutrition Hey message me if you'd like to hear more ..

And definitely can offer motivational support.... we can lose it together !!

LETS ROCK IT!!!

Welcome...regained pounds don't aggravate me so much as the additional pounds that seem to always come with them. I'm happy to hear you're back on track though and congratulations on your 20lb loss so far. I also follow my own plan at home and love coming to 3FC for support and encouragement.
