Hailing from CT! Trying to lose 40 pounds in 10 weeks.
Hello everyone,
I just joined recently and figured I would give a shout out to everyone! As my username suggests I have 50 more pounds to go till I hit my goal. I've lost 40 already. I hope to share my experience and offer any help to others where I can. I do things the old fashioned way through a low carb / high protein approach with no gimmicks. Current I started my own personal weight-loss challenge. I'm shooting for 40 pounds in 10 weeks I will post my updates to the board. My best to all, Scotty |
Welcome, and best wishes with your goal!
|
Thanks! It is a lofty goal but I think I will hit it! Only way to make it more likely to happen is to make my personal challenge public for better self-accountability!
|
Welcome! WOW, the motivation you have is contagious! Keep up the good job! I lost 86 lbs in 9 months back in 2005-06 so your goal is obtainable. I might add that I contribute much of my success to drinking 1/2 my body weight in water daily up to a max of 100 ounces per day. When I don't do that, my weight loss slows considerably.
I look forward to following your success over the next 10 weeks. Best wishes! |
I bet I'm gonna follow your journey then. Interesting! :)

Thanks for the support! So far I have flopped about with the holiday weekend but I am not back on track... however not following things as I should is going to make reaching the goal that much harder.
I started my challenge with a weight of 234.4lbs on 4/3/2014 and weighed in today at 226.3 lbs... I was hoping to have that much weight-loss in the first 8 days... not three weeks! But I totally failed at following my jumpstart period so I could almost say this is a false start... but I am really only accountable to myself so I am sticking to the original time table of losing 40 lbs overall by June 12th. Let's see how it goes... even if I get close say only losing 36-38lbs I still say it is success! |
Welcome! I'm also from CT :)
Your goal is a big one, but I'm glad to see that even if you lose less, you'll still consider it a success. :carrot::carrot: |
Hi Scotty! What a great attitude. I agree personal accountability can make a huge difference. Best wishes to you on your continued success!

40 pounds in 10 weeks is very fast according to your current weight of 226 and you're 5'6". I guess the point being that the first 50 pounds came off quickly because you had a lot to lose.
However as you approach your goal weight, weight loss tends to slow down. Sometimes the scale won't budge and you're doing everything right. The weight plateau syndrome that everyone goes through. For instance I've been trying to lose the last 6 pounds for months now, and at times I feel like taking a sludge hammer to it. I think my weight loss has slowed down to 1 oz. a week, haha. I guess the point is, if you don't lose 40 pounds in 10 weeks, are you going to get discouraged, or are you going to stay with it for as long as it takes? We also know that weight lost slower, meaning 1 to 2 pounds a week tends to stay off, versus rapid weight loss. And any weight lost up until June 12th is a success. Good luck to you on your goal, I am excited to see how you do. https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...ebtL0yDmGiB-DW |
40 pounds in 10 weeks would be nice. Good luck with it!

40 lbs in 10 weeks is an ambitious goal, I sure hope that you attain it..I'm trying to lose 50 lbs, but haven't set a date because it's been so up and down. . I have now lost 25 lbs since the end of Jan. , that is a lot slower than I wanted , but I keep plugging along, I can't give up, not again, so I am going to do my best, also, my Dr is watching me like a hawk, and weighs me in once a month, that keeps me focused.. I need to be accountable so I try to post here in order to keep me on track.. good luck to you, and I will be pulling for you to achieve your goal.
