Hi everyone

Hi all,

I am 24 and live in Birmingham, UK.

I am starting again in January to try and lose some weight. I don't yet know my exact weight but think I am around 240 pounds which is what I was back in September.

I have always struggled with my weight since I broke my leg when I was only 11, and have continued to put on weight since then. I have tried a number of slimming diets such as slimming world and weight watchers but I have only ever been able to lose around 20 pounds, get fed up and then put it all back on and more.

I have a hip condition which doesn't allow me to do much exercise, however I have had steroid injections (my last one yesterday in my right hip) which will hopefully reduce the pain so I can increase my activity.

I decided to google weight lose support group and this one came up, you all seem so helpful and supportive of each other which I am hoping will give me the encouragement to achieve a realistic goal.

Ideally I know I have over 70 pounds to lose to be at a healthy weight for my age and height I'm just not looking forward to how long it is going to take me.

Looking forward to speaking to you all though our weight loss journeys.

Allison

Hi Allison! :welcome: I'm glad you found us! You will get lots of support here! I don't know if you have ever tried a low-carb diet, but my diet, which is a modified version of Tim Ferriss' Four-Hour Body Slow Carb Diet, doesn't require much exercise, and I get a cheat day when I can eat whatever I want every week! It's not for everyone, but I have lost almost 40 lbs on it in 5 1/2 months, and that's with just walking moderately for exercise. Here is a thread that kind of takes you through my journey and tells you what I'm doing if you are interested in learning more: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/othe...carb-diet.html. However, if this diet is not a good fit for you, there are lots of diets to look at under the Diet Central section of the forum. Also, under "Chicks Up for a Challenge" in Support Groups, the January Weight Loss Challenge and Exercise Challenge threads are just starting up and they are very active and very supportive. Any of the challenge threads are great for motivation and accountability. So browse around and jump right in! Newbies are always welcome here! Good luck!

thanks for your reply, I will have a look at your low carb diet however I do have pasta quite a lot so might struggle with it. I will definitely have a look through the other diet information.

thanks

Allison

Hey Allison Welcome to the forums!

I'm sure there's a "diet" to suit your needs i believe if you count your carbs/proteins/fats rather than just your general calories you'll be able to enjoy smaller portions of the food you enjoy while still cutting back and making your exercise effective "it can get really boring though haha" but it's an idea right?

There's simple and effective ways at exercising if you're in pain at times resistant bands or kettle bells you can use while sitting to just give your routine a mix up at times a little change in your lifestyle makes a large difference :)

Also Happy new year!
