Height: 5'7"

Default New here, and tired of being chubby!!!

Hey everyone! I found this forum purely by accident and figured I'd sign up and see if I could find some support here!
My name is Lisa and I have 4 kids (guess that's obvious via my username, lol) from 8 to 21 years old. In 2002, I was diagnosed with thyroid disease. I have struggled with my health, energy and weight ever since. I am currently 48 years old, and I want to start feeling better for my kids and looking better for myself!!! I am 5'7" and a comfortable weight for me, is typically around 145. I am currently 190. My weight seems to fluctuate between 180-195, but I have never been able to get below the 180 mark. I have complained to many different doctors and have been told to take antidepressants (????), that I'm not "really THAT fat", that maybe this weight is where my body is comfortable, and my personal favorite: EAT LESS and EXERCISE MORE.
I have used myfitnesspal and my typical caloric intake is somewhere around 1200-1300 calories per day. I have also tried eating MORE calories (1500-1600) and that didn't make a difference. I drink plenty of water, and I try to get some exercise in every day, but I do know I need to do more of that. I have bad knees, threw my back out a few months ago, and spent 5 weeks fighting a bronchial infection, so my exercise regimen kind of isn't what I want it to be.
I am frustrated and annoyed with my body right now, and I just really want to lose this weight!!!
I guess that's all I've got... I'll go look around now!

You can do this--keep trying and don't give up if the scale stops moving for a while, being healthy is not about a number on the scale.
