Another HI from Florida

  • Well here I am! Love the warm winters here in Florida, summer can be tough, but I just get up early to do any work outside.

At 62 I am struggling with loosing some poundage. My biggest issue is the high blood pressure that the doc keeps insisting I need meds for. Then I feel like cr*p and cannot get thru the day without a nap. Go off the meds and feel just fine. The blood pressure just swings like crazy!!

I just KNOW that loosing 30-40 pounds would put an end to that issue.

There is the cholesterol and diabetes that also runs in my family. At this point I am the only one of my siblings that does not have diabetes and that is the one that scares me.

I love to work in the yard and have quail and chickens that will soon provide me with clean, organic eggs and meat. I usually have a nice winter garden with peas, broccoli, collards, lettuce onions and swiss chard. This summer I have red and sweet potatoes, hot and sweet peppers growing. My fruit trees and plants have provided citrus, peaches, plums, figs and blueberries.

I go to great lengths to avoid any processed foods. My downfall is potato chips and chocolate. I am going to pursue the calorie counting at fitday.com to see how that goes.

This looks like a great support resource and would even look forward to a Florida subgroup.

Good luck to all with their weight loss goals!
  • Hi and welcome!!

I am jealous of your garden and your chickens and quail!

    You can do it!!
  • Hi, neighbour! Yes, you can do it! Maybe I can get some gardening tips from you once in a while! Right now I'm growing basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano, dill, and cilantro. All of my herbs are doing wonderful! Tomatoes and peppers...not so much. Haha. We have onions, squash, eggplant, and I'm pretty sure my cousin is trying to grow broccoli although it's a cooler weather plant. We're still very new to gardening and willing to push boundaries. Lol.

Anyway, I'm glad you stopped by and I'm giving you a warm welcome!
