I think I'm finally ready.

Hi!

My name is SQUAREtheCIRCLE and I am very new here. :)

Not much to say about me... I am 25, live in California, and currently on summer vacation. I've fallen in love for a total of 7 months now, and sadly, in the throws of passion, have gained some weight that I have tried so hard to keep off.

I have always struggled with weight and have been doing very well with keeping off the weight that I had lost about a year and a half ago. But I won't let this set back get me down. I haven't gained all of the weight back, but I am close.

So, I turn to this forum, and all of you wonderful people. I don't have many friends and have no one I feel comfortable with doing a regular workout with. I know you guys will help me with the support I need and I look forward to becoming a part of this community. :)

Does anyone have any advice on getting started? I don't normally exercise, and have issues with motivation :/

Thank you for reading!

hi! I am new here too, also 25 except across the country in NY. I can totally relate with the struggles with weight forever.

I think just start small with exercise. Make it a goal to get outside and walk for 15 minutes a day or maybe 8 miles a week and just keep building. I also am not a big fan of exercise but seriously you feel so good after that's why I do it! I promise you you'll feel great if you get out there :)

As for motivation, I like keeping smaller clothing in plain sight and trying it on every now and then to see how much closer I am to fitting into it again. When I see it I know I have to keep going and I know how much I am dying to fit into it again. For me it has really helped!

First of all, welcome to the group and congrats on your new love!

If you are just starting out, my suggestion would be to figure out a plan and do some research. Going with a program of some sort (anything from Weight Watchers to South Beach to whatever) is one idea--I love Weight Watchers and have learned the hard way that I *need* the meetings. However, even just doing research about nutrition and figuring out what you should and shouldn't eat will help.

If eating right AND exercising seems overwhelming, start with just eating right. Once you are more comfortable with that, start working in more activity.
