Newbie with a sprained ankle just getting started
Hi everyone.
I recently decided to take up the activity of hiking, which I found a refreshing break from city life and a lot of fun. Unfortunately, two weeks ago ago I slid along some rocks traveling downhill and sprained my ankle! Not so fun.:( Now I have been nursing my foot back to health, but it is a slow and annoying process. I was a cross country runner in high school, not the fastest, but it did get me going into a reasonably active lifestyle instead of what I was and would have become: a chubby, junk-food loving, self-pitying downer. I'm 25 now, and still have some issues with depression that ranges anywhere from mild to severe, but am determined to make a change. While not "overweight," this is the most amount of weight I've gained since puberty, feeding onto my depression, and I am tired of letting negativity rule my life. It's difficult losing weight on an injury, but at least now I'm aware of something I took for granted when I wasn't hurt: fully-functional ankles! I can't wait to get back in shape and am already making healthy changes in diet. I'm hoping my moods and mind will follow suit! Thanks for reading and being an inspiration. |
Hey and Welcome to 3fc! I have an ankle injury too so I feel ya! Sounds like you've got the attitude though and are taking care of it. No need to explain about "not being heavy"...we all have different goals and desires! So, best of luck and welcome!

Hi and welcome! I am in the ankle injury club too. I just hit my ankle into a gate, pretty hard hit yesterday, I thought I broke it. I have to wonder if I chipped the bone. Anyway, It happens to be my bad ankle that suffered 2 torn ligaments in the past. Sorry about rambling like that! I hope you feel better soon! this is a great board for support and you will get a lot of that here. You will do great on your weight loss journey!
