I have been on my fitness journey for almost three months; in fact, this month will be my "anniversary", if you will. I have tried to do this before, even losing weight in college, but I have always fallen off the wagon and gained the weight back. I got my wake-up call in February when I dragged out the Wii Fit and saw that I was close to 220 pounds and deemed obese! Now, while I realize it's just a video game, seeing that I was that heavy shocked me. I knew I had gained weight back, but didn't think it had gotten that bad. It was then I decided I no longer wanted to keep going in that direction and needed to change. A couple of other things drove me as well, such as being a couple years away from 30 and seeing my mom struggle on and off with her weight. I wanted to make a positive change, maybe get a relationship and improve my attitude in the process, as I've tended to be a bit of a negative person.
I have tried a few different workouts, but right now, my favorites are dancing (using Wii Just Dance and Zumba classes/the Wii games) and walking, as well as using the elliptical at the gym. I'm on Level 3 of the 30 Day Shred now, but it's caused me some pain at times because my form isn't the greatest, so I'm taking a break until it heals up a little more. I'm looking to step up the intensity a little once I'm done with 30DS and have decided to go for TurboFire. I also use My Fitness Pal to track calories and log exercise, and food has definitely been a little more of a struggle, especially at restaurants.
So far, I have lost 11 pounds and about three percent body fat. I want to lose close to 80 more pounds, so I still have a long way to go. But I have decided I want to teach Zumba, so that is motivation for me right there! I look forward to hanging around here and getting to know everyone.
