Newb from Chilly Manitoba!

Hello everyone,

I came across this forum today and thought I could use the extra support. I started my weight loss journey on Dec.19th, 2012, weighing in at 291 lbs. I had weight loss surgery (VSG) on March 5th, 2013 and so far have lost a total of 55.2 lbs.

My main reason for having surgery, and my realization that I needed to change my lifestyle, was due to poor health. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sinus tachycardia, PCOS, and chronic pain. And I'm only 26 years old. My doctor told me that if things didn't change, I would be lucky to see 30. That was my wake up call.

Happily, since I started this journey, I have been taken off of my diabetes medications and all of my other medication dosages have been lowered. My doctor is certain that after a few months, I will be off of them completely. :)

I am so excited to see what is in store for me. I can't wait to be healthy, for the first time in my life, and happy.

Welcome to 3FC! I'm a n00b too, so I'm happy to have another n00b to talk to haha! I'm so excited for you, you sound like you've come a long way! I've only lost 20 lbs so far but I can't wait to be happy and healthy too!

Also, what's tachycardia? Sounds bad.

Hi Sunshine! Sinus Tachycardia, basically, is a fast heart rate. Normal heart rate is between 60-100, but without medication, my heart rate would run 110-160 22 out of 24 hours a day. It's not an immediately serious issue, but obviously it is a lot of strain on your heart, so they need to control it. Fortunately for me, my heart itself is healthy, so as long as I take my medication to slow my heart rate, I am fine. :)
