It started with the Freshman Fifteen
Finding support to lose weight is more important. I am in my 20's, and hitting the quarter mark in my life has geared my motivation towards not only losing that extra weight I need, but staying healthy: mind, body, and soul, for the rest of my life. This is one of the steps I needed to take to motivate myself to make long-term changes to my lifestyle.
I don't know really know what to say about myself so I will just say a few small personal details. I am in my 20's, I grew up in the Midwest, and now will be moving around with my BF while he has to travel for school, and I will be working on my Master's in Applied Psychology beginning in summer. Anyways, I would like to lose at least 25-40 lbs. I am 20 lbs overweight, and the pounds can slowly creep up on you throughout just a few years. Honestly, the weight loss alone is just on a list of things I need to change/improve to become healthier for the long run. I didn't seem to start gaining until after being put on SSRI's, but it could be more than that. Also, here is a small list of things I am personally going to invest myself in improving, since I KNOW lots of people can relate: 1. Emotional Eating 2. Natural distaste towards vegetables 3. Sugar addiction 4. Cooking at home, not depending on processed or prepared foods so much As you can see, self-care is a big part of losing weight! :carrot: Nice to meet you all! -Alicia |

Hi Alicia!!
Welcome to 3FC! I wish you lots of luck in your weightloss mission! You are smart to do it when you are young; I wish I listened to people when they told me that. I hope you post here often, this site is amazingly inspirational and motivating!! Good luck! |

I grew up in the Midwest too, and lived in beautiful Portland for about 15 years |
Welcome and good luck on your journey!!

Self-care is definitely a big step in losing weight. I work out at home, so if the house isn't tidy, working out doesn't happen.
Same thing applies for my diet: If I don't prepare my meals and snacks over the weekend, I end up going out to eat (which is always more calories than cooking at home). Good luck with the personal changes. It's hard to change old habits, so be patient with yourself and don't give up. :) |
Thank you everyone for the welcomes, and the comments :D
