Greetings from SuperCecilia!

Hello all,

I'm a newbie joining to find some accompaniment on the journey. I'm 32 and live in Central Virginia. My highest weight I think is about 240, and my lowest adult weight is about 190. Right now I'm somewhere in middle at 216. For the last few years I've been basically between 200 and 210 and then over the holidays and some extended traveling in Jan and Feb I the numbers on the scale have crept back up. I'll be traveling in May to visit family and would like to be back around 205 by then.

I've decided to break my goal down into three mini-goals:
1) 199
2) 180
3) 160

Of course, since my lowest adult weight is 190, hard to imagine what being below that will look or feel like, so may reevaluate these as I go. I do have insulin resistance and have found that I do better in terms of controlling hunger and losing weight when I am limited carbs (much to my chagrin, as I - like many, I imagine - love pasta, bread, and sweets). For that reason I am following the Insulin Resistance Diet - which basically consists of linking carbs with protein (at least 7 g of protein for every 15 g of fiber), eating smaller amounts more often, and never having more that 30 grams of carbs at a time.

I am pretty active - I dance at least once a week, walk and jog, and do yoga - sometimes a class or a video, sometimes just an impromptu unrolling of the yoga mat to do some poses and stretches for 20 minutes or so. I do primarily a desk job so one challenge is to try to build movement into my day (taking the stairs, getting up from my desk to stretch or walk around for a few minutes, etc) besides my official workout.

I'd be interested in keeping up with others on 3FC who are trying something similar so we can encourage and support each other. Thanks everybody and look forward to getting to know you better!

Welcome! Glad you found this wonderful site where you will get the motivation and encouragement you are seeking. I too choose to limit my carbs. This eating plan is easier for me because I love meat and can leave the bread, pasta, potatoes, and anything white alone. I am diabetic so I already watch the sugar. Your plan sounds great and your goals are realistic. Set your mind on that 199 goal and work towards it. The others will probably come easier to you once you break the 200's. Here they call that One-derland! I have confidence in you that with your plan and determination you will reach that goal in no time. Blessings, firegirl
