Not a fat chick

but a fat guy....

Hello everyone. Snickerless the fat guy here. Not sure how I got obese, considering my whole life I have always been active and lived a fairly healthy lifestyle. 5yrs ago, I was involved in a serious car accident, then a failed marriage. A few weeks ago I looked at myself in the mirror and couldnt believe how big I am. 322lbs.. So here I go my first ever real diet.

My plan is to start with opti fast for 3 - 5 weeks then transfer to a low carb or palio style diet. Hopefully as some of the weight comes off, I can increase my physical activity. Well thats the plan anyway. :p

Welcome! It's good to know you have a plan. I started with an exercise video made for people with limited mobility (read: in a wheelchair) and did them standing up. It's a start, maybe you could d something along those lines to start...

Welcome, Snickerless! I was injured while working as a Paramedic back in 2008 totally destroying my back and spent the better part of two years in a wheelchair. I still use the wheelchair if I am doing much walking. I started exercising using Sittercise. It is a group of chair exercises. I now do water exercise that includes 30 minutes of walking or jogging for cardio and 15 minutes of stretching, arms and abdomen. My doc will only allow me to do water exercise and to be frank, it is all that I can do without serious pain. I hope you can find some type of exercise that will help you move so that you lose weight and also so that you keep the use of your muscles. I look forward to hearing about your progress. I have confidence in you. I did it and you can too!

Welcome, the hubby started with diet before moving on to excercise. He just cut carbs to 60 or under, stopped with all the soda and juice too and lost 30 in 3 months. He is just now slowly adding exersize. Since u r a guy you will probably see big losses sooner than us girls, that should help motivate u. Best of luck

Welcome to 3 Fat Chicks, Snickerless, from another guy who is happy to be part of the 3FC crowd.

It's neat that you've already explored and found some of the many communities within the 3FC community, including the Men's Corner.

And it's also neat that you have a clear plan both for eating and exercise. You're ahead of the game. Glad you're on board.
