New and confused

  • I've been lurking around a bit and decided to join. I'm in my early 30s, a busy mom, very overweight and ready for change. I want to keep up with my kids. I want to be healthy. I want to see my grandkids someday. I've been digging around trying to find what works for me, but honestly I don't know where to start. I have already cut out soda almost 3 weeks ago. I was drinking at least 1 44 oz soda a day, sometimes 2 or 3. I cut out added sugars and anything with hfcs. At least it's a start that I KNOW will be good. The rest I'm lost on. I get overwhelmed trying to count calories. It consumes me when I try. I think I've over-researched the rest because now I don't know what is safe/good with all the conflicting info out there. I've been paralyzed almost for a week trying to sort through it all. I know I want to do this, I HAVE to, but how? I know nobody can tell me what I should do, but maybe help with making sense? I don't even know if I'm making sense lol.

    Sorry that got so long!
  • So, I've decided that the primal blueprint is what feels right to me. Thanks to those who have read this. Good luck.
  • Welcome and good luck on your journey!!!
  • Welcome it sounds like u have made some good changes already. I don't follow any plans but cut out my one a day soda habit along with most sugars. I also researched healthy recipes and try to keep my meals to 300-400 cals. I don't always weigh everything just estimate but use mfp to help. If I am not losing I start to be a little more picky. But just cooking healthy, eliminating most sugars and a lot of carbs helped me reach my goal. I used to make rice, pasta and breads 5-6 times a week but now only cheat with one if those items once a week. Best of luck I hope u find something u can stick with and find success on your journey.
  • and good luck on your journey!!!
