Newbie to dieting counting calories

Hi, Well I'm a newbie lol I've never really been "dieting" before. This year I've decided to become healthy for myself not because someone else thinks I should. Yes I really would like to be "thin" but I have to get healthy. I have two little boys who deserve to have a mommy who can run and play with them, who will be around for as long as she can be. My mother and grandmother both have severe diabetes it took my grandmother at fifty two. This year I've been labeled prediabetic and have already started having issues with my feet. I'm new to calorie counting but it makes since to me and I don't need expensive food and gadgets to do it. Lose it.com has me at 1600 a day "seems high" to me and I'm slowly including exercise. Besides running around after my boys I've been very non active since I was in an accident as a teen. I know bumps and miss steps will happen its a long road but failure is not an option. Sorry for the long post but this is me :) Just trying to find support and new friends.

Welcome! I'm using Loseit.com also (well the Kindle Fire app) and I thought the 1700 allowance it had for me was high as well. But I've been using it since the 2nd week of January, as well as exercising a few days a week and I've lost 15 lbs. Hopefully it works for you too and good luck!

Welcome to the forum!! It sounds like your starting off with a very manageable plan and I think that you will see steady results. I would say to stick with the calorie count for a few weeks to gauge your rate of weight loss. If you think you can manage to go lower without too much sacrifice, then you could take it down.

Best of luck!!
