Introducing myself here first of all...
Good evening fellow "losers"!
I've just joined this forum (couldn't resist the name!) as I am in the process of losing 20 lbs as my first goal and maybe a few more once I am there. After I quit smoking 18 months ago, the pounds sort of piled on despite regular swimming workouts three times a week. Then I fractured my elbow last September while out hiking and that meant I had to stop swimming. More weight gain! Oh woe is me!!!
Anyway, I got fed up with feeling heavier than I had ever felt in my life so I started my new eating plan on January 2nd. So far, less than one week into it, I have lost 2lbs. Today, I met with my doctor and he agreed with my goal, approved the diet (kind of similar to WW) and here I am.
I feel very upbeat and positive about this venture. When I quit smoking in 2011, I joined a smoking cessation forum and it really helped me to stick to my no more smoking resolution. This time, I am hoping that this forum will keep giving me the inspiration and encouragement I need to reach my weight loss goals.
Now I will make my forum home over on the 50+ boards (because I turned 60 two months ago) but I'll be reading and maybe can help others too.
Happy New Year to all of us! Here's to feeling better about ourselves!
