Red face Rutabaga fries...

Hi all I am new to the site this is my first post! all I can say is that everyone is an inspiration. I hope that I will be able to stay OP. I started a very low carb diet similar to ideal protein. I actually ordered some food from ideal protein. I am getting married in February 14th in turks and caicos. My Goal is to lose 20-25 lbs by then. Do you think this is possible? I have been eating all protein no sugar and low low fat..low low carb less than 25 per day. I am supplementing with vitamins and drinking alot of water. I recently learned of Rutabaga fries and OH MY GOD they are soooo delish! I was wondering can I eat them every day? lol...I sprinkle a bit of seasoning salt very little and chili powder very little spray the pan on the bottom with olive oil spray and then spray a bit on top after seasoning and then cook on 400 F for 20 mins or more depending on how crispy you like them. Does anyone have any phase 1 type recipes that are to die for? please let me know!! thanks! Oh and by the way I hope I did this right, I have never joined a forum but have read many let me know admin if I am doing this all wrong and putting this post in the wrong place. Oh and how do I get one of those little meters to post your progress they are cute. Thank you again

how do you make them? I'm interested in them, too. I've also heard that turnips are good if you eat them like potatoes...anybody try that?

I am curious about something. Is the IP diet that low in carbs? Does it ever put you into ketosis? Because when you're limiting carbs to such a low amount, you very well might go into ketosis. In such case, I thought you did not (or should not) limit your fat so much.

From what I've read, your body gets energy from either glucose (from carbs) or fat. In the induction phase of the Atkins diet, you are supposed to go into ketotis to burn fat. And the Atkins diet encourages consumption of fat so that your body has some fuel to burn for energy.

But in phase I of the South Beach diet, you can also go into ketosis, but I don't think the fats are encouraged there. However, one big difference between Atkins and South Beach is that the only phase of South Beach where it is really possible to go into ketosis is phase I, and that is only supposed to last two weeks.

Does anybody know if its true if you don't eat enough of either carbs or fat, your body will use muscle mass for energy?

The reason I am posting this here -- and I am sorry if I am changing the topic and threadjacking - but when you said you were limiting both carbs and fat to really low levels, I was a little concerned whether this was a good idea.

For something more on topic, I too was intrigued by rutabaga fries. I made them once. My wife thought they were ok, but I didn't care for them much. Maybe it was the way I made them. They didn't crisp up at all and I really didn't like the flavor too much. I would have to douse them with sugar reduced ketchup to make them taste ok.
