Hi there.

  • My name is Ashley and I'm on a mission to finally lose weight. I'm 5'5" tall and currently at 265.4lbs as of this morning and my ultimate goal is 160, but my first goal is to lose 10lbs. Easy enough, right? You'd think that it was, but I struggle with binge eating especially late at night. I do well throughout the day, but once it's night time that's when it's the hardest for me.

Anyway, I'm hoping by getting support I can finally kick the weight off once and for all.

Hope you see you all around. :3
  • Good luck Ashley

I'm new here too, but so far this site has been so so so helpful. Loads of good advice, support, and inspiration! I also struggle with night binges, like I'll eat reasonably all day then BAM! I put my kid to bed and things get out of control. One little snack turns into eight little snacks. I've been religiously keeping track of calories on everything I've eaten on Fitday since joining here. Having to input the calories from everything I've eaten right after eating it really makes me balk from those night eating sessions. I might cave and eat a night snack, but after recording it I am in no mood to continue down that path.

Good luck with those first 10 pounds. Rooting for you! (unless you are an Aussie, in which case I'm cheering for you )

    Do you have a strategy?
  • Hi Ashley, You can do this!!!

I just signed up today too and can completely relate to the binge eating. It is frightening the amount of food I can consume in one sitting, and subsequently, the amount of weight I can seem to gain in a week or even a day. I struggle with night time bingeing also. I have so much resolve during the day and then all he** breaks loose at night when I'm bored/hungry/too much time to think.

I like your approach to breaking it down into doable goals -- that's not so daunting and YES you WILL get the first ten lbs. off. I'll be cheering you on too!

I'm wondering if there are any specific threads for binge eaters?

Good luck! Let's just get through the day and make it a healthy one, ok?
  • Welcome, Ashley!! That's a great way to start off... I think a lot of people (myself included) see a high number and want to drop a high number and only think of that one number, which can easily lead to failure. I've been so focused on 77lbs., that it's all I can see and if I don't drop an enormous amount of weight the first month, I just give up. This time I'm focusing on 5lbs. at a time. When I lose the 5, I shoot for another 5. I'm 18lbs. later now and am still shooting for 5lb. increments until I hit 77 total. You can do it!! This site has been so helpful for me. The people here are so encouraging and supportive. The more I come here, the more determined I get. Good luck!!!
  • Ashley!
