I'm new! Help me please.

I'm new on here i'm 18 years old and i'm finally ready to lose my weight. I need help on the support part, anytime I try to lose weight my friends never help. Not saying it's not my fault because I know it is but it's hard to try to lose weight when my friends are lazy and eat bad too. Plus I work a full time job and i'm going to start college. I'm in it to win it lol. Please help me and tell me about how things are going for you! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this you have no idea what this means to me.

Welcome!!!!! You are going to have some hard times ahead with friends eating junk, etc... But remember that all weight loss is is just one good decision after another. So start small and work up and you will be at your goal in no time! Post here when you have a question or need support. This will keep you on track.

I want to encourage you to NOT get discouraged when people talk about the "freshman 15". My daughter has always been quite overweight (and pretty seditary) and when she left for college last fall she was at about 315. Let me tell you that she was able to eat so much better at school than she did at home (as far as salads and fresh fruit) and she was walking all over campus. When she came home for the summer she had actually LOST 15 lbs! :carrot:
Her attitude about being on the move has changed from being away at school also and she is down to 292! Slow moving... yes, but her whole attitude about her body has changed and this weight is coming off without her having to torment herself. And her brother had also lost weight his Freshman year the year before- it CAN be done!

I told you all that to say this.... Do NOT allow the naysayers to get into your head- you do NOT have to gain weight just because you are away at school. I truly believe that the ones who are more likely to gain that freshman 15 are the ones who were highly active in sports and then didn't have that outlet when they got to college.

I wish you lots of luck and success!

Hi,
I am also 18 and starting my weight loss journey in college. I wish you the best of luck, I know it is hard because my friends always criticize me when I try to loss weight as well. I know this might sounds weird, and it might not work for you, but what I find works is to not to talk to my friends about weight loss that way they dont feel like it is in there face. When we are hanging out and they offer me food I usually just make a joke (not about food or diet) to lighten the mood. When i find I need support I talk to my family or to people in my gym classes.
Also, the only people I know that gained the "freshman 15" are the ones who liked to binge drink a couple nights a week.
Good luck and I am rooting for you!
