Hello from the land of cheeeeese

Hey, I'm Cristy and I hail from Wisconsin, the land of cheese. Ugh, my arch nemesis. This is the second or third time I've started here, and hopefully this will be my last. I'm at my highest weight ever and because of a mixture of a job that was going downhill and a severe bought of depression, I gained almost a hundred pounds in a year. It makes me tear up just typing that. All of a sudden there was a whole list of things I could no longer do, like tie my shoes (barely) and fit in booths at restaurants. :( :( :( It's like I just wasn't paying attention.

But no more excuses. I just read a post of a women who lost 170lbs in 10 months with calorie counting and exercise, so I know it can be done. And it's not a race, but it will need to be a constant awareness. I know this is the place where I will get the inspiration and support I need, and I am grateful.

So I want to say HI to everyone who is also on this weight loss journey. I've come along for the ride of, I mean FOR, my life. :)

Welcome and good luck ! I know you can do it. You have made a start by coming here. I found calorie counting worked best for me.

Thanks Bargoo! I think calorie counting is what I'm going to go with too.

Welcome back! This is my third go round on the site as well, I keep losing focus/motivation and drifting away from weightloss but this time I feel like I'm really ready to make the commitment.

Heres how I'm looking at it: my previous "failed" attempts? practice and experience gained.

I count calories, but I have the bad habit of not logging it when I know I've gone way off plan for the day, like hiding from my food log somehow makes the calories less real. My seemingly obvious but sometimes difficult advice: no matter what you eat, or how much, log it. Face it and get on with your day. You aren't dieting, mindful eating is going to be the rest of your life. Knowing and accepting that you're going to trip up sometimes is essential. :)

Thank you!

This is something I've done in the past too, as silly as it is to try to pretend it didn't happen. Overeating and eating certain foods is only hurting me. I am going to be honest with myself this time around. I've gained the experience that doing the same thing is going to give me the same results, both good and bad.
