New here, looking to get back to "ONEderland"

Hello everyone!
I am so happy to have found this website. I was doing a search online for sparkling water and it led me to a thread on this site. After looking around a bit, I decided to join in. I think this is just what I need.

My name is Bethanne. I am 40 yrs old, and a stay at home mother of 4. I am 5'9" and weigh 275.8. I went to the doctor this week, only to find my blood pressure is still very high despite medication. Also I had an EKG which came back abnormal. Needless to say this has me a completely freaked out, and it was the wake up call I needed to finally get serious about losing weight.

In high school, I was always very thin. Around 120 lbs. but I wasn't healthy and would do all sorts of crazy things to keep my weight at that level. I am not looking to get back to that point. Not at all. But, I would like to get back down into "ONEderland"! I can't remember the last time I saw the number on the scale start with a 1. I think it was around 17 years ago before I had my first child.

When I was married, 19 years ago, I weighed 155 and I felt comfortable, so I am thinking that I'd like to get back down to that. Of course, that means a loss of around 120 lbs which sounds very daunting to say the least!! When I think about that, it seems almost impossible, so I am trying to retrain my brain to think in terms of smaller goals. Right now, I'd like to lose 20 lbs before the end of summer so I am trying to focus on that instead.

Anyway, I am eager to keep looking around this site, seeing all the goal photos, and reading all the valuable information!
Thanks for reading. :)

Thanks! And, good luck to you, too. We can do this!! :carrot:

So, for anyone reading this, do you have any good tips for avoiding two things:
1. late night snacking! This is the worst for me. I can eat healthy all day and blow it at 9 p.m.
2. Not munching while preparing kid's meals throughout the day. Just being in the kitchen makes me want to eat.
