I'm doing it the old fashioned way since I am raising a baby alone. No money to afford gym :(:(

I get so motivated for a day or two and I hit the store and it all goes out the window I have no idea how to stick to something :(

What is the old fashioned way? Diet changes come in many forms. Low carb, whole foods, dairy free, gluten free, paleo, primal, meal replacements, counting just calories, etc. Or any blend of those. I think if you decide on a goal and a plan, youre more likely to get there. Otherwise, you can just feel overwhelmed and lost.

I thought just not eating junk food was a diet lol this just sends my brain into omg mode!!

No junk and no sodas is a really good start!!!

Trust me, that alone will help you TONS. Get used to having oatmeal (just regular plain quick oats) and if desired add raisins, seeds/nuts and brown sugar for breakfast. Healthy, filling and so cheap!! That alone might save you the money for the gym? Or at least a DVD fitness program (P90X is amazing, it's hard but I love it).

Welcome!

Just cutting out the junk food is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Diets are temporary, and when they end the pounds have a tendency to sneak back on. Lifestyle changes are for life, and they keep the weight off.

All the different systems of eating can be a bit intimidating, but you don't have to try them all out. Cutting out junk should make a difference, and while you're doing that, if you're hanging round here you're bound to learn a lot more about nutrition, which is a handy tool to have when you're trying to lose weight. Healthy eating can get you a long, long way though. Good luck!
