Hello, I am Sonja and I am a very busy mom of 5. 10 yr old boy 7 yr old girl 28 month old boy and twin boys 17 months old...

9.5 yrs ago I shattered my ankle in a car accident and have been left with very little cartilage in my right ankle. I have slowly put on weight year after year but the back to back pregnancys really are what have put me way over. I was 165 at 5'7" and now I am 248! In order to get a surgery to fix my ankle I need to lose 60 lbs at a minimum says my doc.

I joined WW and i am looking for support for exercising with this injury and no gym/pool access. I need heso here I am! If anyone can point me in the right directions I would appreciate it

Hi Sonja!

I'll tell you that I lost my first 70 pounds doing NO exercise - I did it all with diet. What goes in your mouth makes a much bigger difference than how you move.

That said, if you want to exercise, can you use a bicycle? Can you walk quickly on your ankle? Have you tried a yoga video? Maybe try a kettlebell? Those excercise bands that physical therapists use, you can buy those pretty inexpensively, too. Do you have netflix? They have some exercise videos you could try before you buy.

Good luck - you can do it!

Sonja, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets, themes, or age groups, find one that inspires you and just post to join! Be sure to check out the WW groups Dieting with Obstacles. I have a friend who had to have bunion surgery on both feet alternately, so she got some Sit and Be Fit and Chair Dancing DVDs.
