Hello From The New Girl.... 170 pounds down
 

Hi there, my name is Brandie and I am new to this forum but not to weight loss. Like many I have struggled with weight my entire life. I have tried diet upon diet with only short term results, usually giving up within a few months and gaining more. I began this journey in August of 2011 and as of today have lost a total of 170.6 pounds. I count my calories, exersize, and cut out most junk food all together. If I had only known it would be this easy. Don't get me wrong it has not been all roses but in the big picture, it has been easy. I have a condition called Hair-An syndrome which is a cousin of PCOS (it is on the more severe side). This causes things like insulin resistance and hypothyroidism. I have always been told that this would make weight loss very hard to achieve. For a very long time I used this as an excuse to stay fat. Well, no more!! Weight loss for me has been about lifestyle change and nothing else. It has to be something I can live with forever if I want to continue living. I have a blog where I write about this journey both to keep myself motivated (by being accountable) and to hopfefully give some hope to someone else who feels the way I did. Brandie, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets, themes, or age groups, find one that inspires you and just post to join!

I feel like I can really relate to you. I also have PCOS and Hypothyroidism. Thanks for showing me that it can be done! I know I can do this, but it helps to hear your success.
