I want to be a beautiful bride!

So here I am, 31 years old and I finally have my soulmate. I can't wait for our wedding next May and to start a family after but my weight is a big issue. I have ALWAYS been overweight...even as a kid. My Mom was always on a diet when I was growing up but they were always crash/ fad diets and I'm just now learning what it is to eat healthy and exercise.
My focus now is not just to get thinner but get fit. I have started back at the gym and I'm constantly looking for healthy recipes. I love food and I love to bake. My fiancee does too and he is doing his own weight loss things. We both have completely different methods. I am so glad I found this site. I hope to get on here everyday and remind myself what I'm working towards:p

Hi, just wanted to say good luck and stay positive :) my sister got married just over a year ago and like you had always been on the bigger side but the wedding for her was a great motivator and she started going to gym And boot camp and managed to lose about 15kg in 12 weeks before the wedding and she looked great on the big day. Just keep the image in your mind of how great your going to look in your dress on your big day and remember that you will have wedding photos for the rest of your life to remind you of what a good job you did :) good luck on your journey

A wedding is a great motivator. Good luck!

Good luck, you will do it with such good motivation but no matter what you will be a beautiful bride all brides are :)

Good luck, you can definitely do it! Always believe in yourself. And your wedding is a really great motivator to keep you moving.

Congratulations on taking the first steps to a healthier lifestyle, but PLEASE do not believe you will not be a beatiuful bride without losing weight. Beauty comes in all sizes, so remember that it doesn't really matter if you don't reach some artibrary number in your head, ok?

Weddings are a great motivator....even if it's your hopeful future proposal (and then) wedding you're aiming for.:o:devil::^:

Yay! Congrats to you!! I'm 32 and will be getting married in June of next year!!!

Thanks for all your support guys. I have been working out everyday this week and eating right. I'm lucky that my fiancee is doing this with me. And it's not just about looking good. Getting married and hopefully having kids soon makes me realize that I need to make a permanent change for the better. I don't want to teach my kids the wrong eating habits and I don't want to be too tired to play with them. I know I can do this....we all can!:carrot:

Congratulations - I got married last month. This is my first marriage and I am so glad I waited for my dear husband. A few tips that kept me going as we prepped for the wedding (we were engaged for nearly 14 months, so I had A LOT of time to prepare)

1. I agree w all of your points that you want to make the changes for the long-term and lifetime, not just your v special day - this is so important and helps to remind you that this is a marathon, not a sprint

2. Whenver I was tempted w unhealthy eating or skipping exercise, I touched my engagement ring. It reminded me that I am making changes for the long term and that I have a wonderful fiance w whom I want to spend a v long life. You may want to create a trick like that or create a mantra that can similarly inspire you.

3. Lastly, and this one is tough, about three months before my wedding, when I was really eating and exercising well, I realized that no matter what, I would be a beautiful bride. It is so much more of a matter of mindset than the exact number on the scale. So, OWN IT GIRL - you WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL BRIDE, no matter what the scale says.

Congratulations and good luck - I married the perfect hubby and had a ball while we prepped for our wedding. I wish the same for you.

Aw, congrats! I'm sure you already will make a beautiful bride, but stay motivated and positive and you will achieve your goals!

Touching your engagement ring is a brilliant idea. I'm going to start doing that. It's been hard this week. I worked out 6 days....weigh in is tomorrow...

Go for it.

With your motivation I know you can achieve your goal before your wedding. Staying fit and healthy will be the best gift you can show to your husband to be at the time that you tie the knot. Best wishes in advance.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Like everyone says, a wedding is a great motivator to lose weight. It was for me, too!
