Hello...

This is my first time posting here. I've been dieting all of my life. I was healthy before I had kids, but got seriously depressed after DD1 was born and gained a lot of weight. I weighed 140 lbs when I got married and want to look like that person again. I also just want to have energy for my kids and be a good example to them. I'm doing weight watchers and recently joined the YMCA. I'm nervous to work out in front of people but I know it's for the best. Hoping to learn a lot from you all!

Hi Martha, hello and welcome to 3FC! :D You'll find all the support and encouragement you need here, and some great advice and success stories. We have support groups for all age groups, all diet types, and I recommend having a look through all the 'goal!' success stories, they're very inspiring!

As for working out in front of people, it's nowhere near as scary as you think, trust me. No one that goes to a gym goes there to look at other people. All kinds of shapes, sizes and ages go to gyms these days, and they probbly have the same if not more insecurities. You go in there and you focus on what's important - making your body healthy.

Good luck and have fun around the boards! :)

Thanks. I have a super-fit sister who is open about judging women at the gym, so I guess I'll just have to get past that. I know everyone isn't like her, though, and I need to do it regardless! Tomorrow is my first time to work out at the Y!
