Need something new
Hi!
I recently lost about 50 pounds doing the Insanity program and was counting calories on Sparkpeople. I don't reccomend either one of them. At one point in my life I was a nationally competative gymnast and did not experience a fraction of the joint pain that I did doing Insanity on carpet. I'm tired of flogging myself through 60 minutes of cardio/6days a week and not getting results. I count calories to the point of disordered behavior and that has to stop. I've started to become afraid of food. I don't even eat meals anymore. I enter all my ingredients into my food tracker and if it's not within the range it suggests I lose my sh*t. I don't feel strong, I don't feel healthy, and while I've lost weight...... my once very full chest is now saggy, and I have a 25 inch waist that you can grab a handful of. I'm 5'0 and eat a primarily vegan diet. I say primarily because I don't eat anything that is a product of factory farming, but I do eat eggs when the neighbors yard chickens lay enough to share, and I eat local fish whenever friends bring it home. I live in the Pacific Northwest where sustainability isn't just a suggestion, it's a way of life. The way I've been living is not healthy or sustainable. I want to learn about strength training and find a program to start out with. I will never go to a gym again. It seems like I am constantly sick when I go regularly, and there is nothing like being oogled while working out in your sports bra (because you are drenched in sweat and over-heating) to make you want to run screaming from a gym. Ugh. I'm a third generation feminist. That kind of crap makes makes my head hurt. I look forward to getting to know you all! I've already learned so much from reading the forums! |
Welcome and good luck ! I have no words of advice because I am not vegan and I don't go to a gym. I do notice we are the same height I lost by calorie counting, I had to give up the gym because of an injury, not gym related. I get most of my exercise by walking.
