Newbie from Arizona

Hello all! I am a newbie from AZ. I actually decided after having a major operation where I almost died to fix myself. I had to wait for my wound to heal but 3 weeks ago I joined the gym.
I got a trainer that I see one day a week(sometimes 2). I started out at 234lbs. The first week I lost 2lbs. The next I lost 3. I was so happy. Until this week. I stepped on the scale and it said I gained 6 lbs. So so discouraged. I saw my trainer today and it turns out I must have been retaining some water because according to her scale I gained 2. Not happy about the 2 but when she did my BMI it went from the original 44% to 39% so I am burning that fat.:carrot:
So I thought I would join a forum so that the next time I have a number like a 6lb gain come up I have someone to talk to instead of sulking all day. Can't wait to make some new friends.

:welcome2: glad you joined us here becuz you can learn a lot from our experience and knowledge. For instance, you didn't really gain 2lbs of fat overnight -- that's not possible. You just gained some water weight back. In the beginning, esp the first week & month, you lose mostly water, then the fat starts to come off. So the numbers will start big, then get down to reflect actual fat loss.

So don't get discouraged; this is a life-long journey back to good health, right? Now, take a look around and join in anywhere you like, and enjoy yourself ...
