Hi! I saw your intro in the 100 lb. club bios and just wanted to give you a bit of encouragement. Our stats are almost exactly the same--I'm 22, a fellow college student and started this year out at 242. Thus far I've lost a little over 10 lbs--making a total of 20 lbs. I've been doing it via calorie counting and exercise and I already feel a lot better!
I hear ya on the exercise--at the beginning of this year, I was a complete couch potato. So I decided to change one thing per week. The first week, I walked everywhere: no elevators/escalators or driving to class (I live on campus, but it's a good walk to several of my classes). The second week I walked one time for 30 minutes, then gradually increased it to now where I'm power walking 5 days per week. So I started super slow, but I think it helped me better than attempting to go from 0-60. Now I'm starting to weight train my wimpy arms. :P
You may be more fit than I am and may be able to start right in jogging or what not. It helps if you have some good tunes or an audiobook to listen to--I've found that I quickly get bored and notice my fatigue earlier when I don't have my mp3 player.
Best of luck on your goals!
