Life Changes
Hello everyone, My name is Vickie. I am 40 years old. This choice I have made to change my life comes from a need to get back to "me". In 2008 I was 175 pounds. Which is just fine for my large 5'8" frame. (I can almost palm a basketball if that gives reference to my body type) I ran 5 miles 4 days a week and was a voulenteer wild fire fighter. Lifted weights and was very toned. In summer of 2009 my mother, who took care of my disabled brother; had a stroke. My life changed overnite and the next thing I knew I was providing 24 hr care for 2 adults who could'nt even toilet themselves.
I do not regret my choice and would not change a thing. Needless to say I went from a size 8 to a size 16. My weight soared to 232 pounds. The largest I have ever been. Last week my best friend and husband of 14 years told me I was no longer desirable physically and he just...left. I sure didn't see that comming. Needless to say it's been one heck of a week. But out of the ashes I have emerged! I want "ME" back. I want to go out and be socible insted of hiding in this house ashamed of being seen. My friends have not seen me in a year because I am ashamed. I do not want my husband back..after that how could I? But I am so ready to get back to me. So there it is in a nutshell. I am really lookin forward to know you all and gleaning from your experiance and your supportfulness. I know from my own experiance that loosing weight is only part of it. It is a life change. Thanks for your time..I can get long winded.;). Blessings, Vickie |
Vickie, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets, themes, or age groups, find one that inspires you and just post to join! Be sure to check out the 40-somethings.

dear sookiegirl03, wellcome! just hearing you say you want yourself back, not your husband, not anything else but who you are, makes me believe you can achieve everything and take care of your own needs, eat right, exercise, everything. so wellcome and good luck! :)
